Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Season 6 cast photo raises more questions than it answers.

The photo, which recreates Leonardo da Vinci's famous The Last Supper painting, finds the cast gathered around around a table. The table and the wall behind them are inscribed with strange symbols, which suggests they may not be on Earth (or, at least, their Earth). However, the purpose of the table is unmistakable; one end features stacks of poker chips, which Deke appears to be pocketing surreptitiously. A strange sword is also affixed to the front the table.

Notably, the characters are positioned like Jesus' apostles, with Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie assuming the role of Christ. For instance, Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez faces Mack directly in Judas' position, while Daisy Johnson angles herself away like John, "the disciple whom Jesus loved."

According to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Transmedia Producer Geoffrey Colo, the photo is rife with symbolic meaning. "To answer your question, this is not from a particular episode; it's a thematic representation," he teased on Twitter. "Don't forget the easter eggs. Some you'll recognize, others won't hold any significance until you've seen the particular episode."

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set to return to ABC in May with 13 new episodes. The series stars Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Henry Simmons, Iain De Caestecker, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, Elizabeth Henstridge and Clark Gregg.
