The cold open for last weekend's episode of the popular sketch comedy series had Alec Baldwin's President Donald Trump hold a press conference to declare a national emergency, mocking his real-life announcement from this past Friday. As the President decides which reporter to take a question from, he decides to answer a question from ABC, as he is a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe series. Series co-creator and co-showrunner Maurissa Tancharoen shared the clip on her Instagram account.
The series is poised to return for a shortened sixth season this May, with the eponymous team still reeling from the loss of leader Phil Coulson at the end of Season 5. In the interim, a mysterious doppelgänger resembling the veteran S.H.I.E.L.D. agent is poised to make his appearance in the upcoming season in an unknown capacity.
Whether Baldwin's parody portrayal of Trump will eagerly be awaiting the Season 6 premiere has yet to be seen.
