WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for the series finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., "The End Is at Hand" and "What We're Fighting For," which aired Wednesday on ABC.

After seven seasons, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has finally come to an end and with it, ABC's era of Marvel television is no more. In fact, it's been well-known for some time now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe films will stretch out onto the realm of television on the Disney+ streaming service, which means that the two-hour series finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is essentially a swan song for all of the fan-favorite characters that form its cast. Unfortunately, this is more than likely the last time fans will see Agents Coulson, May, Mack, and Fitz and Simmons in the MCU.

But perhaps that may not be the case for Daisy Johnson, aka Quake. At the end of "What We're Fighting For," Daisy gets a new position at S.H.I.E.L.D. that puts her on track to reunite with the former Director of the spy agency: Nick Fury.

The final episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ends by jumping forward in time a full year. There, we see what the series' cast is up to now that the Chronicom threat has been dealt with. And here, we learn that S.H.I.E.L.D. has effectively been brought back to greatness: there's a new academy to train agents, operatives are sent on missions across the world, and Mack serves as the new Director aboard his helicarrier. As for Daisy, she is on a special assignment with Sousa and her sister Kora:  flying aboard the Zephyr 3 in the depths of space as part of a new branch of S.H.I.E.L.D. tasked with exploring the cosmos.

Of course, there's an implication that Daisy is now part of S.W.O.R.D., S.H.I.E.L.D.'s sister organization tasked with protecting the world from extraterrestrial threats. The new division isn't given a name in the episode, but we do know Daisy, Sousa and Kora aren't the only S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in space in the MCU.

After all, at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, an after-credits scene revealed that Nick Fury was off somewhere in space, working on a large Skrull ship populated with the shapeshifting aliens. While we have yet to learn what it is exactly that Fury is up to with the Skrulls, it's possible he may need some help.

If Fury is helping relocate or save the Skrulls, then it's possible he has reached out to S.W.O.R.D. for some help. Therefore, Daisy could be out on a mission to meet with Nick Fury. Or if not that, then perhaps whenever Fury inevitably comes into trouble, he will find a familiar face in the cosmos who can help him out. Daisy is a powerful character, and her appearance in Phase 4 of the MCU could make a big difference, especially considering the status of the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy remains a bit of a question mark.

Daisy is an experienced agent and a powerful fighter. She's an Inhuman who has a connection with the Kree, and her current location in space all contribute to making her someone who could come into play in Fury's cosmic mission.

It might be a long wait until we finally learn what Fury is doing alongside the Skrulls, but hopefully, the end of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has delivered another small piece of the puzzle. It's been a long time since Daisy and Fury saw each other, and their reunion in the MCU's coming cosmic conflict would certainly be a welcome surprise -- not to mention that this would finally see an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. character finally make the jump to the big screen.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s final season airs Wednesdays at 10 pm ET/PT on ABC. The series stars Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Henry Simmons, Iain De Caestecker, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, Elizabeth Henstridge and Clark Gregg.
