Next year, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will go on a journey through time. In the Season 6 finale, the team traveled back to the year 1931 -- and that is exactly where the Season 7 trailer picks up.

Released at Disney's D23 Expo, the Season 7 trailer begins in New York City on a dark, rainy night. Inside a derelict shop, three corrupt cops wait for a late-night rendezvous, to take money from an unknown party. However, whoever they're waiting for doesn't show up. Instead, three chromicon hunters step through the door.

The hunters were very upfront about who and what they are. Naturally, the cops didn't understand -- nor did they want to. After telling the hunters to "beat it," the cops quickly found themselves the victims of the chromicons' wrath. Then, using a horrific device, the lead hunter stripped a cop's face right off as the man screamed in terror.

Then, the trailer cycled through a series of scenes featuring the S.H.I.E.L.D. team and their allies. One showed a man murdered outside a motel; another showed a shuttle launch, with a ship that emerged straight out of the Lighthouse itself. The trailer also confirmed a Summer 2020 release date.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return next summer for its final season on ABC. The series stars Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Henry Simmons, Iain De Caestecker, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, Elizabeth Henstridge and Clark Gregg.
