ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return to the network on May 10 for Season 6.

The news comes from the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. panel WonderCon 2019 in Anaheim and was revealed by Executive Vice President of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb.

Despite relatively low ratings, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been renewed for Season 7. It's likely that more information about that season and the upcoming one will be revealed at the event.

It's not clear how much Season 7 will involve Clark Gregg, who has played Agent Phil Coulson across many different Marvel TV shows and films. Last seen in the final moments of the Season 5 finale, Coulson was about to succumb to the mortal wounds he suffered from Loki in The Avengers. He ultimately decided to spend his final days relaxing in Tahiti with Agent Melinda May. However, the first trailer for Season 6 revealed Gregg's return as a new character who looks identical to the late S.H.I.E.L.D. operative. Gregg has since reprised the role in Captain Marvel.
