With a month until the show returns for its fifth season on ABC, Marvel has unveiled four new Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. characters who will join Coulson and the gang in space.
It was previously announced that actor Jeff Ward had joined the cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in a mysterious but "key role" for the show's fifth season, leaving many to question just who the actor could possibly be playing. Finally, with a little under a month until the show's return, Marvel has confirmed Ward's role, while also announcing a few other new cast members.
While previously thought to be playing the role of Jack Flag, it has been confirmed that Ward's character is actually named Deke. Per Marvel, Deke is the ultimate survivor and roguish scavenger. He's both a real asset in a tight spot and a hard man to trust.
Tess, played by Eve Harlow (Heroes Reborn), is resourceful, striving to be self-sufficient in very desperate circumstances. She is living proof that, even in the toughest of times, good people will still fight for each other.
Grill, played by Pruitt Taylor Vince (Heroes Reborn), is a gruff taskmaster, lording over those under his command with an unforgiving temperament. He has no illusions about the world he lives in and this makes him a man not easily fooled, or crossed.
Flint, played by Coy Stewart (Are We There Yet?), is described as a young man who has been forced to grow up quickly in a tough environment, but hasn't lost his desire to do something with his life. The character is based on one from the Inhumans comics.
Following the announcement that Flint would be making the jump from comics to live-action, co-creator Charles Soule took to Twitter to express his excitement over getting to see the character brought to life in another medium.
