Pixar's Coco has added an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. to its cast. According to Deadline, Slingshot star Natalia Cordova-Buckley will lend her voice to the legendary Mexican artist Frida Kahlo in the film.
The news comes just a month ahead of the film's theatrical debut. Cordova-Buckley will have a cameo in the English language-version of the film. The movie follows a character named Miguel (Anthony Gonzalez), who -- through a mysterious and otherworldly chain of events -- comes across a charming trickster Héctor (Gael García Bernal) and sets off on a musical adventure to unlock the real story behind his family history.
Cordova-Buckley took to social media shortly after the news broke to celebrate being able to bring an iconic artist like Frida Kahlo to life on the big screen -- even if only in animation.
She can next be seen in ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which returns this December for its fifth season, as the superhero Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez.
Written and directed by Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 3) and Adrian Molina (The Good Dinosaur), Disney/Pixar’s Coco hits theaters on November 22, 2017.
