Though Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ended nearly two years ago on its own terms, fandom desire to see the series revived in some form has not gone unnoticed by Agent May herself.

After the hashtag #SaveAgentsofSHIELD began circulating on Twitter, Deadline reached out to former Marvel actor Ming-Na Wen for her thoughts on a potential revival. "I love that our small fanbase is getting bigger and bigger, because I think people are starting to rewatch all the episodes and realizing what a wonderful series it was and I love the fans and the fans' reactions," the Book of Boba Fett star responded. When asked about the chances of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. coming back, Wen simply said "Fingers crossed. Who knows?"

Calls to #SaveAgentsofSHIELD began shortly after the finale of Hawkeye on Disney+. The finale confirmed that Laura Barton, Clint Barton's wife, was not only a former S.H.I.E.L.D. operative, but possibly Mockingbird, aka Bobbi Morse, who was portrayed by Adrianne Palicki on AoS.

Wen starred in seven seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Melinda May, a legendary but stoic S.H.I.E.L.D. operative and pilot whom Phil Coulson recruited post-resurrection to join his new team. Throughout the show, fans gradually learned more about May's backstory, including the tragic origins of how she became so revered amongst S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel, as she grew to care for her teammates and form a romance with Coulson. The latter character, despite being Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s protagonist, technically died in Season 5 but semi-returned in Season 6 and 7 as an alternate being with Coulson's face named Sarge and an LMD with Coulson's memories, respectively. May, like a number of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. characters, has since been integrated into Marvel comics, appearing last year in the pages of The Marvels.

Despite starting off as adjacent to the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. gradually developed its own loose continuity, introducing figures like the Inhumans and Ghost Rider who have yet to debut in the Infinity Saga. The show aired its final season in 2020, with Marvel dropping it and other live-action TV shows in favor of canonical Disney+ series like WandaVision or Loki. Recent programs, however, brought back key characters from Marvel's canceled Netflix shows like Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock and Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye, suggesting that Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s characters could do the same.

Following Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Wen joined another Disney property as Star Wars' Fennec Shand, a mercenary introduced in The Mandalorian who currently serves as a co-lead on The Book of Boba Fett. Originally left for dead during her first Mandalorian appearance, Shand was revived by Fett and became his faithful partner, helping the bounty hunter undertake his duties as Tatooine's new daimyo. Wen also voiced Fennec Shand in the Star Wars: The Bad Batch animated series, whose second season will release this year.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is currently streaming on Netflix.
