SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Past Life," the latest episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Kasius' seer has some bad news for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. In "Past Life," the latest episode, Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez discovered that the seer was actually her future self. Haggard and disillusioned, this future version of Yo-Yo had some dire warnings for the team: Mack is destined to die, and Coulson is already dying.

When she heard that Kasius had a seer, Yo-Yo took it upon herself to help the poor Inhuman on her own. She quickly found where Kasius kept his seer, but wasn't prepared for what she found: a slightly older version of herself, chained to a bed. Like Tess, this older version of Yo-Yo had a wraith-like look, with pale skin and deep black bags under her eyes. Unlike Tess, the future Yo-Yo had her arms amputated by the Kree.

With a haunted look, the future Yo-Yo explained how she was still alive. "They killed me. Brought me back to take my blood, my DNA. And again and again, for years," she recalled. "They revive me when they want. Kill me when they don't... I held on to the thought of this moment."

As present Yo-Yo struggled to come to terms with her situation, future Yo-Yo's expression changed for a fleeting moment. "Mack. He's still alive," she said with a smile. It faded as she continued, "Hold him for as long as you can... I practiced so many times what to say. I want it to be better. Save you from the pain, but seeing you -- all the pain comes back."

Present Yo-Yo demanded to know if her future self had been there the whole time. "Stuck in the loop, like you," future Yo-Yo confirmed. "We make it back in time, but then we bring everything that's to come... I don't think I [believed it] either, until I was on fire, reaching for Mack, and then there was nothing there."

"I want to help you fix the mistakes," future Yo-Yo continued, despite her earlier doubt that they could ever break out of the time loop. "I want to tell you something different than last time, but the more I talk, the more I hear my words echo all over again."

"I remember feeling helpless, not being able to change people's choices -- his choices. Coulson. The team makes one choice, and it ruins everything," she explained. "To save him. Phil Coulson is dying, and you have to let him. It's already begun. He's sick and he knows it. We tried to stop it. Loyalty. It cost us the world."

Of course, the episode laid the groundwork for Coulson's impending demise. During a fight with one of Kasius' Inhumans, he was knicked in the chest by the man's blade. A shot of his wound revealed thick vein-like tendrils extending out of it, indicating that it was infected in some way. The Inhumans' blade made have been laced with poison to achieve this effect.

Indeed, even Coulson seems to realize just how dire his condition is. When Daisy insisted that she stay behind, removing any possibility she would cause the end of the world, he iced her and carried her to the monolith. "I need you to lead," he said to her, implying that he knows he won't live for very much longer.

Future Yo-Yo's revelations reflect what we saw in "The Last Day's" flashback sequences. In the flashbacks from 2022, Coulson, Mack and Daisy are missing. Though Daisy's absence is explained by the fact that she allegedly caused the Earth's destruction, the other two were unaccounted for. Yo-Yo also heavily suggested that Mack had died sometime earlier, even as she went to confront the Kree; this is likely how she ended up in Kasius' grasp. Coulson, however, was not mentioned at all.
