Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Clark Gregg joined the chorus of fans calling for the Daredevil series to be saved by Marvel after Netflix's rights to the show recently expired.

Gregg showed his support for the series' revival by reposting a memory from Vincent D'Onofrio on Twitter. In his original post, D'Onofrio posted a photo of Daredevil actor Charlie Cox recalling a memory about the late Stan Lee and mentioned that "out of the blue," Gregg blurted, "Save Daredevil!" Gregg added the caption, "Say it with me people... #SaveDaredevil."

The Daredevil series ran for three seasons on Netflix and starred Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil. While fans of the series have been campaigning to save the show since it was canceled in 2018, a new wave of support flooded the internet when Netflix's rights to the series reverted back to Marvel on Nov. 29. D'Onofrio -- who portrayed Kingpin in the Netflix series -- previously voiced that he would return to the role in some form and shared the #SaveDaredevil petition, which currently has more than 400,000 signatures.

Fans of the show are now using the #SaveDaredevil campaign and petition to call for Marvel and Disney to continue the story. The petition reads in part, "Our wishes are that Marvel Television, and its parent company Disney, reach a deal with Netflix that allows the show, in its current format and with its current cast and crew, to continue on a different platform as soon as possible."

While it's still possible that the series could find a second life on Disney+, fans asked for Marvel and Disney to think about bringing the series to Hulu so that the more mature tone could be retained. Disney also announced plans in August to launch a Star-branded streaming service, which will be an international platform that holds other properties that Disney owns. Unlike Hulu, it will not carry licensed content and seemingly has no barrier to mature content. It's also possible that Marvel Television won't renew the series and will instead relaunch the Daredevil character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Daredevil served as the first series in Marvel's Netflix lineup and premiered on the platform in April 2015. Season 1 starred the likes of D'Onofrio as Kingpin, Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Franklin "Foggy" Nelson, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple and Vondie Curtis-Hall as Ben Urich. Later additions included Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/the Punisher, Élodie Yung as Elektra Natchios, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin "Dex" Poindexter/Bullseye, Jay Ali as Rahul "Ray" Nadeem and Joanne Whalley as Sister Maggie. All three seasons are streaming now on Netflix.
