Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Chloe Bennet has revealed that she and her family have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

Bennet posted an Instagram Story on New Year's Eve updating her followers on her absence from the social media platform. The Daisy Johnson actor announced that on Christmas morning "I woke up with a high fever, and unable to breathe. I got tested, and I'm positive for COVID-19 … it's been a rough week to say the least." She added that multiple members of her family were also infected, but for now they are all doing okay. The first image on Bennet's Instagram Story included a link to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for more information on COVID-19.

"I'm sharing this because I want to iterate to anyone who still may not be taking covid seriously, please please please fucking do," she continued. Bennet added that she prides herself on being healthy, wearing a mask, socially distanced while taking all of the necessary precautions and she still became very sick. She ended her post with, "P.S. Fuck you 2020, I can't wait to not be in you."

Bennet is one of many stars to go public with their positive COVID-19 diagnosis. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson announced he and his family were recovering from coronavirus in September. 81-year-old Ian McKellen felt "relieved and optimistic" in December after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine at Queen Mary University Hospital in London.

"I'll carry on wearing the mask and social distancing and all that, but it does mean that I can imagine going back to work and mixing with people and because I'll be rather safe," the actor explained. "I feel very special and it's a very happy day this, I'm a bit euphoric, actually."

Bennet starred on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for all of its seven seasons on ABC. While it was originally created as a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) spinoff, following Agent Coulson from his Iron Man and Avengers roots, it created a life entirely its own and independent of its relationship with the MCU's films. The series was based on Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D., which was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The series ended on Aug. 12, 2020.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Henry Simmons, Iain De Caestecker, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, Elizabeth Henstridge and Clark Gregg. All seven seasons of S.H.I.E.L.D. are streaming now on Netflix.
