While on the red carpet, cast members teased what was to come for the Marvel Cinematic Universe series' sixth season, with change in tone hinted for the largely serious show.
"Season 6 is very different than what we’ve done before," declared Elizabeth Henstridge in an interview with Syfy. "It’s very comedic in places. Every character gets a good chunk of the action. I can say that Daisy and Simmons have some really fun, cool stuff together. For me and [co-star Chloe Bennet] it has been so fun because we got to hang out together all day, which was fun."
Season 5 saw Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie stepping up as the new Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. with his relationship with fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. operative Yo-Yo Rodriguez, portrayed by Natalia Cordova-Buckley tested by the new dynamic and responsibility.
"It's going to get rough between Yo-Yo and Mack," Cordova-Buckley hinted.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set to return for its sixth season in May 2019 on ABC with 13 new episodes. The series stars Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Henry Simmons, Iain De Caestecker, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, Elizabeth Henstridge and Clark Gregg.
