According to stars Henry Simmons and Natalia Cordova-Buckley, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s 100th episode will be a payoff for anyone who has ever watched the show. Speaking to CBR, Simmons and Cordova-Buckley -- who play Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie and Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez respectively -- offered a glimpse of what's to come in the major milestone episode.
"For me, it was still shocking. I have to say it was a little shocking," Simmons recalled. "Little bit, little bit. Look, you've got to come strong on the 100th episode, and they did. They really delivered. I'll put it that way. The writers, they delivered on the 100th episode in terms of anybody who has invested time in the show -- even if for one season, whatever it may be -- the 100th episode is a payoff for many people."
"What happens in the 100th episode…? I'm just kidding! Something really special happens in that episode, so I think for me it was more than 'aw, oh my god!' It was more like 'awww' endearing and happy that the audience is going to get that moment," Cordova-Buckley added.
Codova-Buckley's comment follows on the heels of Fitz and Simmons' engagement, which could mean that the 100th episode will feature their wedding. In the flashbacks to 2022, Fitz was spotted wearing a wedding ring on his finger, implying that the two will follow through if and when they return from the future; Cordova-Buckley's comment, then, suggests that fans will get a chance to see this milestone event. After all, that would fulfill her promise of "something really special" that is also "endearing and happy."
Nevertheless, a FitzSimmons wedding is far from confirmed, as Cordova-Buckley offered no other concrete details about the episode. What's more, in an interview with CBR, Coulson himself Clark Gregg suggested that the wedding won't happen until way, way down the line: "Maybe someday, in Season 9, we can see them actually get married." However, his comment may have been intended to lead fans and speculators astray.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D's 100th episode is slated to air on Friday, March 9.
