With the upcoming Age of X-Man in February, readers will see an alternate reality where the X-Men accomplished their dream of mutants and humans living in peace, with characters who have lived lives of conflict and war enjoying a kind of peace and prosperity they've rarely experienced in the comics.

With six new titles to be released under the Age of X-Man banner, Panamanian artist Rahzzah posted cover art and character designs for the upcoming miniseries Age of X-Man: The Extremists, which features a militant re-imagining of a team of X-Men to remind readers that peace very often comes with a price.

Age of X-Man writers Lonnie Nadler and Zach Thompson revealed the series would reference classic dystopian fiction, such as Orwell, Bradbury and Huxley, and that the book will also address oppression, "exploring what you become when you're faced to ask hard questions about what you would do to keep the peace." The X-Tremists, also known as "Department X," according to writer Leah Williams, will feature mainstream X-Men such as Jubilee, Iceman and Psylocke, Canadian superhero Northstar, former Brotherhood of Evil Mutants member The Blob and newcomer Moneta. Their uniforms reference the classic yellow-and-black X-Men costumes, but in a more authoritarian manner, with each character's design referencing either their personality or powers.

Here is Marvel's official synopsis for Age of X-Man: The Extremists #1:
