One of the most iconic real-time strangest games of all time is finally receiving a remaster. RTS fans are eagerly awaiting Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition, the long-awaited remastered version of the legendary game. Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition will be digitally enhanced and bring exciting new features while remaining loyal to its original format, providing players with an even better gaming experience.

Age of Empires established itself as one of the industry's best RTS franchises way back in the mid to late 1990s. Both Age of Empires and Age of Empires II received definitive editions already, so it comes as no surprise that the third entry is following in their footsteps.

Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is set to launch on Oct 15th, 2020, for PC, as well as the Xbox One and Xbox Series X. The game will cost players $20, though existing owners can pick up a copy at the discounted cost of $15. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will also receive a discount on the Windows Store. This is excellent news for Age of Empires fans who already own the previous games. Still, newcomers can also purchase the Age of Empires Definitive Collection for around $60 if they want to try the entire series.

Like most remasters, Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition will receive a graphical upgrade, painting the entire game in a brand-new light. Everything from ground textures to unit detail has been digitally enhanced, making the game more realistic than ever. However, Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition will push some computers to the limit since it does have some demanding system requirements. It will also take up a good amount of space in comparison to other RTS titles, requiring at least 42 GB. The good news is the enhanced graphics pack will be optional, so players with an older computer will still be able to run the game smoothly. The core game will have updated graphics as well, but it won't be as impressive without the graphics pack.

Long-time AoE fans can expect a few new features from the upcoming definitive edition. Two new civilizations, The Incas and the Swedes, will be included in the remaster, giving players a wider variety of societies to choose from. A few new game modes have been added as well, including Historical Battles and the Art of War mode. These modes were included in previous AoE definitive editions, so they will be familiar to most returning players. Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition will not have a new campaign, but the game developers hope these new modes make up for its absence.

Native American civilizations will also be more realistic in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition than in previous AoE entries. Instead of using gold to trade goods with indigenous societies, players will use fur and animal pelts. This depicts Native American societies more accurately while immersing players in the game even further.

Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition looks like another solid entry into the legendry RTS franchise. The previous AoE definitive editions have been met with critical and commercial acclaim, so fans hope the upcoming remaster will live up to its high expectations. So far, Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition looks to be doing just that. The game has been enhanced in nearly every way while staying true to the original game's formula. Age of Empires fans have a lot to look forward to once Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition hits stores next month.
