Confirming earlier reports that "EastEnders" actor Ben Hardy will play Angel in "X-Men: Apocalypse," director Bryan Singer has unveiled new concept art for the winged mutant to Empire.

"Ben Hardy is Angel - I shall confirm it for you!" the filmmaker told the magazine. "But he's not a very nice Angel! And that's all I'll say ..."

That tease is unlikely to surprise X-Men fans, as in Marvel comics, Warren Worthington III was genetically altered by the powerful mutant Apocalypse (played in the film by Oscar Isaac), and transformed into the Horseman Death, also known as the blue-skinned Archangel, whose organic metal wings can cut through most any material.

The concept art below clearly shows those deadly wings, although it looks as if Warren may not sport the blue skin on screen.

Hardy joins a cast that includes franchise veterans James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, as well as newcomers Isaac, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexendra Shipp and Kodi Smit-McPhee."X-Men: Apocalypse" opens May 27, 2016.
