Agatha: Coven of Chaos star Patti LuPone has confirmed the episode count for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Disney+ series.

The actor recently appeared on the podcast Little Gold Men by Vanity Fair to discuss her new film, Beau Is Afraid. However, the conversation naturally detoured to talk about her joining the MCU in Agatha: Coven of Chaos. While LuPone managed not to divulge too many spoilers, she did reveal that the WandaVision spinoff would run for nine episodes, confirming a previous report on the show's episode count from November 2022. At nine episodes, Agatha will tie WandaVision, What If...? and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law for the largest episode count for a Marvel Disney+ series. However, their reign will be short-lived as all four shows will be dethroned in 2024 when Daredevil: Born Again begins airing its 18-episode first season.

Who Is Patti LuPone Playing in Agatha?

This is the second time in recent memory that LuPone has let slip details about Agatha: Coven of Chaos. In April 2023, she revealed on the morning talk show The View that she would be playing Lilia Calderu in the MCU project, "a 450-year-old Sicilian witch, whose power is divination, and whose trial is tarot." She also spilled that Aubrey Plaza, Sasheer Zamata and Ali Ahn would be playing witches in the show and that all four actors would be part of Agatha Harkness' coven.

LuPone also stated that Heartstopper breakout Joe Locke has been cast as the coven's "familiar," who in the Marvel Universe is someone who attends to and obeys witches, vampires and other magical beings. While unconfirmed by Marvel, it is believed that Locke is playing a teenage version of the Scarlet Witch's son, Billy Maximoff, who was last seen as a child in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, portrayed by Julian Hillard. At this time, it is unknown how Billy will be brought back to life in the MCU.

It Was Agatha All Along

Kathryn Hahn returns as Agatha Harkness in Agatha: Coven of Chaos, following her scene-stealing and Emmy-nominated performance as the villainous witch in the 2021 Disney+ limited series WandaVision. The spinoff series was originally announced by Marvel Studios in November 2021 under the title Agatha: House of Harkness. The subtitle was later changed to Coven of Chaos in July 2022, with principal photography kicking off in Atlanta in January 2023.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in 2024, as part of Phase 5 of the MCU.
