One of the most watched television show with adults 18-34 last Friday? The 200th episode of Smallville. Way to go, Man of Steel... But how conflicted do you think this makes the CW about the show ending this year?

Stunningly for a show in its tenth year, the CW's Superman series created a ratings upset on Friday by coming in second overall (to CBS' Medium) but first in the 18-34 demographic in its timeslot. Admittedly, it had weak competition, with both ABC and Fox airing re-runs and NBC... well, being NBC (Its School Pride debuted with weak numbers). Nonetheless, this kind of success is rare for the CW, and underlines the need for the network to have a suitable replacement for Smallville when it ends its run at the end of this season. Perhaps this will be where David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman series will end up...? They could pair it with Nikita for an action-filled night of ass-kicking women...
