Ben Affleck's tentatively titled "The Batman" may not be set in stone, but a new report suggests Los Angeles will be recreated as DC Comics' iconic Gotham City when it begins filming.

According to Batman News' sources, "Ben Affleck plans to shoot 'The Batman' in Los Angeles," which is also where Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises" was filmed. The site goes on to list Batman on Film as another outlet that has received the same news. It is believed the Warner Bros. studios lot in Burbank, CA will serve as one of the primary filming locations.

Affleck's Batman film was confirmed for a 2018 release, but he has made it known he doesn't plan on rushing a mediocre product out if it means sacrificing quality. "I’m not going to write and direct anything that I don’t think is good enough to be made. I’m definitely going to make sure I have something that is special — there’s not enough money in the world to make a mediocre version of Batman worth it," Affleck commented last month.

In addition to directing and starring in the Batman film, Affleck is writing the screenplay with DC Entertainment President and COO Geoff Johns. Also starring Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, the film is reportedly on track to begin production this spring.
