Since being victimized by a nefarious cabal of wrestlers led by Referee Aubrey Edwards, Dr. Britt Baker DMD has been on a real roller coaster ride. First, she missed out on her match at AEW's Double or Nothing. Then, her horrifying injury confined her to a wheelchair. Now, she is being stalked and tormented big Big Swole while she recuperates. But on the June 24 episode of Dynamite, Britt started drifting into Ron Burgundy territory.

For those who might not know, Ron Burgundy was the main character of the 2004 cult classic film  Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. At one point during the movie, Ron was driving across the Coronado Bridge with his dog Baxter when he accidentally assaulted a motorcyclist with a burrito, causing an accident. As an act of revenge, the motorcyclist, played by Jack Black, grabbed Baxter and punted the dog off the bridge (don't worry -- not only was Baxter fine, he'd return to save the day). Ron ended up in a phone booth, scream-crying out his feelings and lamenting that he'd become  trapped in a glass case of emotion." After this week's Dynamite, Britt Baker might be able to relate.

Over the last few weeks, Baker has been upgrading her means of getting around AEW. She was initially confined to a wheelchair, the Role Model, but then had it mounted on the back of a side-by-side vehicle driven by Reba/Rebel called the Role's Royce. Two weeks ago, Big Swole came after Baker with a steel folding chair, necessitating a quick getaway. The following week, Big Swole stole the Roles Royce and kidnapped Baker, leaving the injured dentist in a nearby dumpster for several minutes (or perhaps many hours, according to the good doctor).

To combat these issues, Britt Baker had some modifications made to her Role's Royce. It now has a clear plexiglass box around her sitting area to protect her. It is comparable to the Pope Mobile, though it's unclear at the moment whether or not the Role's Royce is now bulletproof. But as safe as she thought she was, Baker soon found herself trapped in her own plexiglass case of emotions.

Baker continued to use her pulley system to communicate with her bestie, Tony Schiavone, throughout the night. She sent him what turned out to be an extremely insulting message directed to Big Swole for Tony to read on air. It didn't take long for Big Swole to respond to Baker. She attacked the Role's Royce, exposing the one small, barely noticeable flaw that Baker hadn't noticed: its total lack of a roof.

Big Swole was successfully able to target the giant, gaping hole directly above Britt Baker's head, one that Baker apparently did not realize was there when she taunted her enemy. After climbing up the front of the Role's Royce with a garbage can in hand, Big Swole proceeded to dump the contents of the can on Baker. If Swole had brought Baker to a dumpster the previous week, this week she brought the dumpster to Baker. Like Ron Burgundy, Britt was left to scream-cry out her emotions as she lay trapped in a plexiglass case of emotions (and in Britt's case, garbage).

Britt Baker's unfortunate injury obviously upended AEW's booking, but all the parties involved are making it work. Baker's monster heel run continues, and it keeps getting better the longer it goes on. Big Swole deserves a lot of credit as she has fully leaned into the weirdness and creativity that's become the hallmark of this feud and made it a weekly highlight, even without any in-ring action. Reba/Rebel and Tony "Mr. Starbucks" Schiavone are also key secondary characters to the angle, adding even more dimensions to it.

Where AEW goes with this in the next couple of weeks is key to making this interesting for fans. Baker won't be ready to wrestle for a while, and there's only so far she can go with the Role's Royce gag before it becomes a parody of itself. Big Swole versus Reba/Rebel could work as a way to extend the feud. Another option would be bringing the seemingly forgotten conspiracy angle back into the mix. If Aubrey Edwards is behind all of this, too, that could be amazing. However it works out, you stay classy, AEW.
