A&E Orders Occult Crime Pilot From Michael Bay and James Wong

With his post-apocalyptic drama The Last Ship in development at TNT and his Treasure Island prequel Black Sails in the works for Starz, Michael Bay had already planted his flag on television. But now Deadline reports the super-producer has also lined up a supernatural drama with A&E.

The cable channel has given a cast-contingent pilot order to Occult, whose premise is reminiscent of The X-Files. The project follow an FBI agent newly returned from administrative leave after going off the deep end while investigating the disappearance of his wife. Eager to get back on the job, he's paired with an agent who specializes in the occult and assigned to solve cases for a newly created occult-crimes task force.

Adding to The X-Files comparisons is the involvement of James Wong, who was a writer, director and producer of the 1990s series. He'll write the pilot, with Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller serving as executive producers.
