Tuca & Bertie has been renewed for a third season by Adult Swim.
"Everyone’s favorite BFFs are set to soar even higher as Adult Swim, the leader in adult animation and #1 destination for young adults, greenlights a third season of the animated comedy Tuca & Bertie," Adult Swim declared. "Adult Swim has also secured the international rights for seasons two and three, now making the show available globally via the brand." Also included in the announcement was original artwork celebrating the renewal.
The announcement further highlighted the strong viewership numbers that Tuca & Bertie's second season was bringing to the network. "Tuca & Bertie has increased the number of teen viewers (ages 12-17) and young females (ages 18-24) coming to the network – up +65% and +38%, respectively," Adult Swim confirmed. "Tuca & Bertie has consistently ranked #1 during its Sunday 11:30p-12a timeslot versus basic cable among Teens, Adults 18-24/34 and Men 18-24/34/49 (excluding sports)."
Debuting on Netflix in 2019, Tuca & Bertie follows the story of the eponymous best friends -- Tuca (Tiffany Haddish), a free-spirited party girl trying struggling to grow up, and Bertie (Ali Wong), a nervous office worker whose dreams are stymied by her past traumas. Along for the ride is Speckle (Steven Yeun), Bertie's well-meaning but sometimes airheaded boyfriend. Despite receiving positive reviews, Netflix canceled Tuca & Bertie after its inaugural season. Adult Swim renewed the show and its second season premiered on the network on June 13.
The final two episodes of Tuca & Bertie Season 2 will air Aug. 8 and 15, both at 11:30 p.m. on Adult Swim.
