Smiling Friends, the popular animated pilot created by Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel, has received a full series order from Adult Swim.

Originally premiering as part of Adult Swim's 2020 April Fools Day line-up, the Smiling Friends pilot has been watched over 1.3 million times on social media platforms and is the most-watched program on AdultSwim.com. It was announced at the WarnerMedia upfronts that the absurdist comedy cartoon is getting a full series of 11-minute episodes, set to premiere later this year.

The official synopsis for Smiling Friends is as follows:

In Smiling Friends, Smiling Friends Inc. is there to lend a helping hand to any city inhabitant who calls their hotline with their troubling situation. No matter how absurd, the folks at Smiling Friends will send representatives cynical Charlie and star employee Pim to save the day.

This is Michael Cusack's second series for Adult Swim, following YOLO: Crystal Fantasy. Cusack also made the Rick and Morty short "Bushworld Adventures."

In addition to the heavily anticipated Smiling Friends series, Adult Swim announced the new half-hour comedy Royal Crackers, created by Jason Ruiz, at the WarnerMedia upfronts.

Created by Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel, Smiling Friends premieres on Adult Swim later this year.
