In the two weeks since Warner Bros. announced the casting of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in the Man of Steel sequel, there’s been a lot of rumination about the character’s tormented history with Hollywood, most recently demonstrated by a rejected NBC pilot and a proposed drama The CW has placed “on hold.”
But while fans and pundits may grouse about all of the missteps and missed opportunities on the superheroine’s road to live-action adaptation, Friday Night Lights veteran Adrianne Palicki has nothing but positive things to say about her all-so-brief time as Wonder Woman in David E. Kelley’s pilot.
“I got to play Wonder Woman, which was, by the way, maybe one of the coolest things ever,” she told IGN.com. Asked whether she regretted that the network didn’t pick up the pilot, the G.I. Joe: Retaliation actress replied, “I wouldn’t say regret. I was devastated when it didn’t go and it was expected to. It was one of those things that was shocking. But in retrospect it was probably a blessing. It would’ve been a really hard thing to shoot. And I got to wear the costume — I should say, I got paid to wear the costume! So not many people get to say that. [laughs] I’m really blessed to have gotten to do that and maybe some day down the line I’ll get to play that character or another awesome icon again.”
Palicki was just cast in From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, the El Rey Network drama inspired by Robert Rodriguez’s 1996 cult horror film. Gadot will make her debut as Wonder Woman in director Zack Snyder’s still-untitled Man of Steel sequel, which arrives July 17, 2015.
