Usually, catching Pokémon is all about catching the strongest, fiercest, and best ones for competition and battle. Right now, the focus is on just how adorable these Pokémon really are! Ash Ketchum was always the type of trainer who chose his Pokémon based on their skill potential and abilities. If he were to have chosen his Pokémon based on their adorable looks instead, his collection would look a whole lot different.

The original Pokémon anime premiered in 1997 and it has been followed by several movies and video games. In 2016, the mobile game Pokémon GO gained a lot of popularity with people of all ages taking part in the fun. Here are some of the cutest and most precious Pokémon that a trainer could possibly catch.

10 Skitty

Skitty was first introduced to fans in Generation III as a Normal-type Pokémon. It stands exactly 2 feet tall and eventually is able to evolve into a Delcatty. The charm that this adorable Pokémon brings to the table is enough to make anyone say, "Awww."

Skitty is certainly not the type of Pokémon a trainer would want to take into battle because its main weakness is fighting! This gentle, nonconfrontational buddy just wants to be friendly and sweet.

9 Togepi

togepi

Misty loved her Togepi more than anything and her bond with Togepi was a huge focal point for five seasons of the original show. Togepi is a Fairy-type who weighs around 3.3 pounds. Not too heavy at all and easy to carry anywhere!

This cute little Pokémon is known to evolve into a Togetic with the ability to hustle when necessary. Togepi's weaknesses are the same as Jigglypuff, steel and poison.

8 Squirtle

Pokemon Squirtle ready for battle

Squirtle is a sweet little Pokémon with light blue skin and the shell of a turtle for protection. He's a Water-type Pokémon who weighs around 20 pounds making him a bit heavier than other creatures his size.

Squirtle evolves into a Wartortle and absolutely can't stand being around grass or electricity. Those two elements are Squirtle's weaknesses.

7 Jigglypuff

Jigglypuff is truly one of the cutest Pokémon ever from the pink skin to the giant blue eyes to the adorable curl on its forehead. Jigglypuff stands at about 1 foot, eight inches in height, and is known to eventually evolve into a Wigglytuff. Before even becoming a Jigglypuff though, it starts off as an Igglybuff. Igglybuffs are decently cute but far less adorable than a Jigglypuff.

Its weaknesses are poison and steel so whatever a trainer does, those are the two things they should always avoid! It comes from the fairy species and knows how to be charming and competitive when necessary.

6 Lillipup

Lillipup

It is easy to guess that Lillipup is a puppy based on her name. She is a Normal-type Pokémon and she was first introduced in Generation V. Standing at 1 foot, 4 inches, Lillipup fits a big personality into her little body.

Her weakness? Fighting. She would rather be friendly and loving than to have to go into battle. Eventually, Lillipup evolves into a Herdier. This is the perfect Pokémon for people who want one as loyal and affectionate as a dog.

5 Emolga

An Emolga soars through the sky in the Pokémon anime.

Emolga is easily one of the most adorable Pokémon that a catcher might choose. He is an Electric-type but he is also a Flying-type and just like Lillipup, he was first introduced in Generation V.

The category he falls into? Sky Squirrel. His weaknesses are ice and Onix Pokémons. If Emolga can avoid a fight against an Onix or another Pokémon who fights with ice, he will be just fine.

4 Teddiursa

Anime teddiursa

This little guy looks like a tiny bear which makes a lot of sense because his category is "Little Bear". His biggest weakness is fighting so sending him into battle will not lead to great results.

He is quick on his feet which means that he can run away if he really needs to! Teddiursa evolves into an Ursaring when he is ready and he was introduced in Generation II.

3 Eevee

There is no denying it. Eevee is beyond adorable! She is so precious that even the meanest trainer couldn't turn her away. She stands at 1 foot even and absolutely hates fighting. In fact, fighting is her weakness.

When the time is right she evolves to a great number of things including an Espeon, Jolteon, Sylveon, Flareon, Umbreon, Vaporeon, Leafeon, or a Glaceon.

2 Shaymin

Shaymin

Shaymin is definitely a cutie. She resembles a bush with a couple of flowers growing on her sides which makes sense because she is a Grass-type. She is considered a mythical Pokémon and she was first introduced in Generation IV.

She is from the gratitude category which makes her even more adorable. She has a lot of weaknesses though, unfortunately. Her weaknesses include bugs, fire, flying, ice, and poison.

1 Pikachu

Pikachu easily takes first place for being the most adorable Pokémon species ever. Ash Ketchum's connection with his Pikachu is precious to see because their friendship is so wholesome and sincere.

Pikachu evolves from a Pichu and evolves into a Raichu. Any true Pokémon fan knows that Pikachu's powers revolve around his ability to control electrical currents. His static electric powers come in handy fairly often.
