The Addams Family 2 certainly tests Gomez and Morticia's crew as they try to save Wednesday from a path of self-destruction as she abandons them. Thankfully, Cyrus Strange doesn't turn out to be her real dad, with Uncle Fester saving the family from the mad scientist. It unites them all like never before, with the ending offering clues as to what a third chapter could look like, as well as a spinoff.
The Addams Family Travels the World
The finale has a montage of Gomez taking the family on another vacation, but this time they go international rather than cross-country. We see snippets of them in Egypt, India, near Mexican pyramids, in Italy and Africa and so on, so a threequel can fill in the blanks regarding what transpired on these journeys.
With Pongo joining Lurch as his giant bestie, and Pugsley in love with Ophelia, it's easy to see the expanded crew having a ball as they meet other ghouls while perfecting their family dynamic. They could meet a similar family or encounter monsters such as vampires, werewolves and mummies as they interact with various cultures. Through these global shenanigans, we can see their relationships tested as they unlock supernatural secrets and more about themselves.
Is Gomez Really Wednesday's Father?
We know Strange faked his paternity test, while Gomez used a toupee, so Wednesday's DNA test showed he wasn't her dad. But while she does accept that Gomez is her real father by the time the film ends, it's still vague. He doesn't seem confident, so it could be a mystery that needs solving in full later on. After all, Fester did tamper with the kids in the hospital and could have clumsily mixed them up.
It'd be on-brand for him, plus it would shake the status quo up if Wednesday weren't actually an Addams. Sure, Strange was just there for kooky shock value, but Wednesday having a healthy, happy family and being part of a bloodline of the light, not the dark, could be intriguing to explore. Gomez would lie about this to protect the family, so it'd address his knack for secrets and skeletons in that haunted closet.
Cousin Itt and Grandmama's Go on Wacky Adventures
The Addams Family 2 had Itt being a party animal down in Miami, impressing Pugsley as he had tons of fans and girls. He eventually left for a celebrity world tour on a private jet, so a spinoff can focus on him with another person who loves raves: Grandmama. Gomez's mom did throw a massive bash, after all, when they went on vacation, so a spinoff with Itt could be a hit.
Seeing as the main movies focus on Wednesday a lot, Pugsley can even join them, learning about whether he loves Ophelia or if he wants to woo women like Fester does. Seeing as Fester wrote a romantic book too, he could join them on globe-trotting ragers. This would give characters more screen time to shine, and take them away from the usual heavy, emotive family drama for a funnier blast.
