If a new rumor is to be believed, Adam Driver may soon jump from a galaxy far, far away to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Fantastic Four.

According to The Hot Mic podcast, Driver has met with Marvel Studios for an undisclosed role in the upcoming reboot of the First Family. There's no word on which role Driver would play, though his villainous turn in the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy makes Doctor Doom an obvious choice.

Little is known about Marvel Studios' upcoming take on the iconic superhero family, though some behind-the-scenes details have slowly emerged. In September 2022, WandaVision helmer Matt Shakman was confirmed as the director of the new Fantastic Four. Though Shakman has tons of television experience, helming everything from episodes of Game of Thrones to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, he's only directed one feature: 2014's Cut Bank.

As for writers, Marvel decided to go with a pair of scribes with virtually no experience in the industry. Not long after Shakman's involvement was announced, Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer were officially hired as the writers for Fantastic Four. The pair are seen as rising talent in Hollywood, having sold several spec scripts, including the comedy Disaster Wedding from Palm Springs director Max Barbakow. But fans looking to parse their résumés for hints about the MCU's Fantastic Four will have to wait.

Who Will Play Marvel's First Family?

The biggest source of speculation amongst fans is who will play the Fantastic Four in the film. While John Krasinski portrayed a version of Reed Richards in Doctor Stranger and the Multiverse of Madness, there's no guarantee that he'll be the MCU's main Mister Fantastic. Rumors have circulated that everyone from You's Penn Badgley to It's Always Sunny's Glenn Howerton to Lucifer's Tom Ellis could be up for the role, but Marvel hasn't made any official casting announcements.

As for Sue Storm, Killing Eve's Jodie Comer and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's Rachel Brosnahan have both been rumored, but casting for the Invisible Woman has also remained elusive. Even fewer rumors have swirled about the Human Torch and the Thing. And then there's the villain.

Both previous debuts of the Fantastic Four on the big screen saw the team face Doctor Doom, their biggest nemesis from the comics. But there's been no official word about who the heroes will face when they arrive in the MCU. If Driver is truly joining the Marvel family, it's not hard to imagine him suiting up as the iconic supervillain.

Fantastic Four hits theaters Feb. 14, 2025.
