Disney's Encanto is a breath of fresh air for the animated musical film genre, thanks in large part to its lovable characters and catchy songs, which were co-written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The film follows the life of 15-year-old Mirabel, a member of the Madrigal family. Each member of the Madrigal family has a unique gift, or magical power, except for Mirabel.

10 Mirabel Is Voiced By A Brooklyn Nine-Nine Star

Mirabel is the teenage protagonist of Encanto and is the only member of the Madrigal family that doesn't have a gift. She constantly lives in the shadow of her two older sisters and cousins. Her grandmother pushes her to the side, but Mirabel is later responsible for saving her family home, known as "Casita."

Stephanie Beatriz is behind the voice of 15-year-old Mirabel in Disney's Encanto. She is most famous for her role as Detective Rosa Diaz in Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Beatriz also appears in another Lin-Manuel Miranda film, In the Heights. 

9 Isabela's Voice Actor Is Proud Of Her Colombian Heritage

Isabela is the 21-year-old golden child and Mirabel's eldest sister. She possesses the gift of decorating spaces with bright-colored flowers. However, Mirabel discovers Isabela's facade and is actually unhappy. Diane Guerrero voices the flawless Isabela. She is widely known for her role as Maritza Ramos in Netflix's Orange is the New Black. She also plays the protagonist's best friend, Lina, in the telenovela Jane the Virgin. Guerrero is proud of her Colombian heritage, where Encanto is set, and is largely vocal about immigration reform as her parents and older brother were deported.

8 Agustín And Mirabel Have A Special Bond Because Of Being Powerless

Agustín is the father of Mirabel and the husband of Julietta. He is known to be quite clumsy, and because he married into the family, he has no powers. He can comfort Mirabel due to them both being powerless, and they possess a special bond. Wilder Valderrama voices this lovable character and is widely known for his performance as Fez in the popular sitcom That '70s Show. He is also famous for his voice acting role as Handy Manny in the eponymous children's show for its seven-year run.

7 The Mysterious Bruno Is Voiced By Super Mario's Brother

Alright, we don't talk about Bruno, but in this case, it seems appropriate. Bruno is Mirabel's estranged uncle, who lives with a family of rats in the walls of Casita. He has the mysterious gift of seeing the future through visions, and even predicts the crumbling of the family home. John Leguizamo voices the enigmatic Bruno, who is later welcomed back by the Madrigal family. Leguizamo is known for his role as Luigi in the 1993 film Super Mario Bros. He also appears in films like Carlito's Way and Romeo + Juliet. 

6 Mariano's Voice Actor Is A Famous Colombian Singer-Songwriter

Mariano is responsible for making viewers and characters swoon for his smooth attitude and looks. He attempts to propose to Isabela, but is interrupted by the house falling apart. Mirabel finds out Isabela doesn't actually want to marry Mariano, and he and Dolores start a relationship instead at the end of the film.

Maluma, a famous Colombian singer-songwriter, voices the character of Mariano. He reprises his role for the Spanish-language dubbing version of Encanto. Maluma's song "Hawái" reached number three on the Billboard Global 200 chart.

5 A Teen Wolf Guest Star Voices Practical Joker Camilo

Camilo is Mirabel's 15-year-old shape-shifting cousin who loves to play a good practical joke... or two. He is the middle child, with Antonio as his younger brother and Dolores as his older sister. Camilo is voiced by Rhenzy Feliz, who is of Dominican descent but was born in The Bronx. Feliz is hasn't appeared in many productions, but is best recognized for his role as Alex Wilder in the Hulu original series titled Marvel's Runaways. He also guest-starred as Aaron for five episodes of MTV's Teen Wolf.

4 Luisa's Voice Actors Is A New Face (And Voice) In The Acting Community

Luisa is Mirabel's 19-year-old older sister and Isabela's younger sister. She possesses the gift of super-strength, and this results in many villagers asking for her assistance. Luisa carries many burdens on her shoulders and feels like she can't disappoint her family. Viewers learn this when she sings the song "Surface Pressure." Jessica Darrow voices Luisa and is relatively new to the acting industry. She is a Cuban-American actress who gained recognition for her role as Sarah in the 2019 film Feast of the Seven Fishes. 

3 Dolores' Voice Actor Is A Reggaetón Princess

Dolores is Mirabel's 21-year-old cousin who has the gift of super-hearing. Mirabel goes to her to find out information about everyone. However, she spills the beans to the Madrigal family about Bruno's vision of Mirabel and the house falling apart during Mariano's proposal to Isabel. Dolores gets what she wants in the end when she and Mariano start a relationship instead. This is the first acting role for Dolores' voice actor, known as Adassa. Adassa is nicknamed the "Reggaetón Princess" for her collaborations with artists like Pitbull, Daddy Yankee, and even Missy Elliott.

2 Pico's Voice Actor Has Lent His Voice To Other Animated Birds

Pico makes friends with Mirabel's youngest cousin, Antonio, when he receives his gift of talking to animals. Pico extends the invitation to other wild animals, and the Madrigal family and their guests have a huge party.

This fun-loving toucan is voiced by Alan Tudyk, who first gained fame for his role as Hoban Washburne in the space western TV show, Firefly. Tudyk is no stranger to voice-acting roles, as he voices several birds, like Heihei the Rooster in Disney's Moana and Iago in the 2019 live-action remake of Aladdin. 

1 Abuela's Voice Actor Has Appeared In Many Spanish TV Shows

Alma Madrigal is the matriarch of the Madrigal family and Mirabel's abuela. She initially is disappointed in Mirabel for her lack of powers, but later embraces her at the end of the film. Viewers learn in a flashback that she lost her husband shortly after giving birth to triplets. María Cecilia Botero voices Alma and is known for her appearances in many Spanish-language TV shows and films since the early 1970s. One of her most notable roles is Carmen on La Bruja. Botero reprises her role as Alma in the Spanish-language dubbing version of Encanto.
