ACTOR announces summer-long promotion with A-1 Comics

SACRAMENTO, CA (May 27, 2004) -- A Commitment To Our Roots (ACTOR), a non-profit organization that helps comic book creators in financial need, has announced plans for a summer-long promotion with A-1 Comics Inc., Sacramento's premier comic book store.

Brian Peets, owner of A-1 Comics, has committed to a series of store promotions that will involve in-store appearances of comic greats. "Comics have been very, very good to me, and I want to be able to give something back to the community--ACTOR is a great cause that I am fully committed to," Peets noted. A-1 Comics will donate a minimum of $500 to ACTOR for each store appearance held. The first appearance will be held on Saturday, June 5, from 1-5 p.m. Darick Robertson, the current artist on Wolverine will highlight the first scheduled store appearance. Robertson has also worked on Transmetropolitan, Justice League Midsummers Nightmare, and Born.

Darick Robertson will be on hand to sign books and talk to fans about his ongoing projects. A-1 Comics asks that fans showing up for the event donate $0.25 for each piece signed, with all proceeds being donated to ACTOR.

ACTOR exists to help persons in the comic book industry that may need financial aid due to age, health, or just low salaries with no retirement plan. ACTOR is dedicated to helping creators with emergency medical aid, financial support for the essentials in life, and as an entrée back into paying work.
