Active Images Nabs 2 Eisner Nominations

Official Press Release

Los Angeles, CA -- Apr, 2006 -- Active Images is proud to announce that it has received two nominations for the 2006 Eisner Awards. Richard Starkings, First Tiger and President of both Active Images and Comicraft, was nominated in the Best Lettering category. Ladronn, artist on HIP FLASK: MYSTERY CITY, earned his nomination in the Best Painter/Multimedia Artist category.

For Ladronn, this is his 3rd Eisner nomination and his 2nd for HIP FLASK --- he was nominated in 2004 for HIP FLASK: ELEPHANTMEN. Richard Starkings's nomination covers a remarkable body of work including, Conan and Revelations with Dark Horse; Godland for Image; and GUNPOWDER GIRL AND THE OUTLAW SQUAW and HIP FLASK: MYSTERY CITY, both from Active Images.

"There's nothing quite like getting nominated for an Eisner," said Starkings. "But I'm most excited for Ladronn. He works incredibly hard on each HIP FLASK book. Now with our new ELEPHANTMEN series through Image, Ladronn should get even more exposure as he will provide all of the covers for that series, plus character designs and a guiding hand. He deserves the attention."
