Action Comics writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson explained how Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane's spicy sex life only enhances their relationship.

Twitter account "mr and mrs supes" (@thebestofclois) posted a screenshot of an image from a backup story (by Dan Jurgens, Lee Weeks, Elizabeth Breitweiser and Rob Leigh) featured in Action Comics #1051. Set after 2022'sThe Death of Superman 30th Anniversary Special #1 and the Superman: Lois and Clark limited series, the moment sees Lois refer to Clark's black-and-silver costume as both "historically accurate" and "trés sexy."

While the story was written by Jurgens, one commenter began blaming Johnson for "character assassination" and not portraying Lois as a "loving and supportive wife." In response, Johnson tweeted, "If you have the power of gods, and you DON’T use it to make your partner feel like a goddess when you’re together, you are seriously doing it wrong. Part of Lois and Clark’s relationship is how into each other they are. Also: 'kink' and 'wh*re' don’t mean the same thing. Grow up."

As Jon turned red and walks away, Lois further adds, "Remember when you went through your whole thing about personal space? I do."
