Action Comics celebrated Superman Day on June 12 by sharing new cover art.

Illustrator Daniel Sampere posted an image on his Twitter account that depicts what appears to be Superman's son sitting on a porch and being consoled by Lois Lane-Kent, with a newspaper sitting at their feet. Meanwhile, a reflection in the window of the door behind them shows Superman flying high in the sky.

Sampere wrote in the caption, "I've been allowed to share our new cover for Action Comics 1035! I had to remove the headline on the newspaper for this version to avoid BIG spoilers. What it will be? Happy #SupermanDay everyone!" The artist also revealed that the colorwork on the cover was done by Alejandro Sánchez while the script for the latest book was written by Phillip K. Johnson.

While Sampere didn't reveal what the headline might be, some followers had hypotheses, with one writing, "Amazing cover! I really hope the headlines not something like 'Superman finds out son isn’t his!!!' Lol. I will be devastated."

Superman Day was first established in 2013 by DC Entertainment as "Man of Steel Day," two days before the release of the DC Extended Universe film Man of Steel. As part of the inaugural celebration, DC Entertainment partnered with comic book retailers and bookstores across the United States to give out free copies of All-Star Superman #1 Special Edition, among other Superman-themed goodies.

In addition to the upcoming cover for Action Comics #1035, Sampere most recently illustrated the cover art for Action Comics #1030 and #1031. His other cover credits include the Batgirl, Injustice and Justice League Dark comic books series.
