The U.K.'s Sunday People has learned that the Absolutely Fabulous film has taken a big step forward. Series co-creator and co-star Jennifer Saunders has finished the screenplay for the Absolutely Fabulous feature film, a feat that has taken close to 20 years to accomplish.
"I've finished the first draft," Saunders said. "I'm feeling euphoric. My proper New Year's resolution is to do the film, otherwise it'll be a pointless year of procrastination."
The film will once again see Saunders and Joanna Lumley reprise their roles as Edina and Patsy. Fittingly, the film is said to even be titled Edina and Patsy. Edina's daughter (Julia Sawalha) and mother (June Whitfield) will reportedly also play a role in the film.
Absolutely Fabulous debuted in 1992 on BBC, returning for a number of series and specials between 1994 and 2004. It becamec a hit in the United States and a cult favorite in the United States thanks to reruns on Comedy Central, BBC America and Logo. Ab Fab last appeared in 2012, when it returned for a trio of episodes to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
