The search for the symbiote codices continues unabated in Marvel Comics’ current event, Absolute Carnage. The event has seen Carnage and his minions scour the Marvel Universe for anyone who has ever bonded with a symbiote.

A preview for Absolute Carnage: Symbiote of Vengeance #1 sees the crimson serial killer track down his latest victim, Alejandra Jones, whose Spirit of Vengeance previously bonded with a symbiote. Ever the go-getter, Carnage has tracked Alejandra to her home (of sorts), the Nicaraguan village she once helped purge of sin (it didn't go as planned).

While that part of Alejandra’s life is behind her, she has taken up more of a heroic role in recent years, becoming that village’s sole defender against the likes of drug runners and rogue militias. Now, though, the past has caught up with her and Carnage has come calling, slaughtering the villagers Alejandra once swore to protect.

There’s quite a bit riding on this fight, of course, as anyone who assembles all the symbiote codices gets a major power boost from Knull, the god of the symbiotes. It would be a tall order to ask Alejandra to go up against Carnage by herself, though, which is why another Ghost Rider, Danny Ketch, will be riding into action to provide some much-needed support.

Absolute Carnage: Symbiote of Vengeance #1 goes on sale Sept. 11. Ed Brisson writes the issue. Juan Frigeri is the artist. Philip Tan provides the cover art.
