WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Absolute Carnage: Miles Morales #3 by Saladin Ahmed, Federico Vicentini, Erick Arciniega and VC's Cory Petit, on sale Wednesday, Oct. 9.

Miles Morales was one of the first Marvel heroes to be possessed by a Carnage symbiote under the control of a resurrected Cletus Kasady in Absolute Carnage. The bloodthirsty symbiote combination is hunting across the Marvel Universe for anyone who has ever acted as a symbiote host, in order to extract a codex from their spines.

Carnage's ultimate goal is to bring forth the return of Knull, God of the Symbiotes, who was the main antagonist of Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman's Venom run. With Miles now under his control, Carnage has sent him off on a bloody mission to kill frequent Spider-Man supporting character, J. Jonah Jameson.

Absolute Carnage #2 ended with Miles in his gruesome symbiote form laying his teeth into Jameson, and a preview of this week's Absolute Carnage #3 picks up on the action. However, instead of completing his murderous mission, Miles is able to not only save Jameson, but himself as well. The tide is ultimately turned thanks to the one ace up Miles' sleeve: his Venom Blast.

After fighting against the evil influence of the Carnage symbiote in his mind, Miles is able to bring his consciousness to the forefront long enough to summon up a Venom Blast. This weapon allows Miles to charge an energy blast in the palm of his hands. When he uses it, it temporarily stuns an opponent. As you can see, it is even effective against a symbiote.

Not many people are able to mentally fight back against a symbiote possession, let alone muster up enough pushback to make it leave the host body. Now, we have to wait and see if the symbiote remains separated from Miles, or if it finds another way to sink its teeth into the young Spider-Man.
