Eddie Brock and Peter Parker are at war with Cletus Kasady in Absolute Carnage, Marvel’s latest comic book event by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman. The event series just kicked off with the first of five issues, but it’s a story that has been steadily seeded throughout the creative team’s Venom series, which launched back in 2018. Although Absolute Carnage may appear like the epic climax of Venom, it’s actually just a part of a much larger story.

Asked if Absolute Carnage was the culmination of the creative team’s work on Venom, Stegman told CBR, "This is certainly not the end. There's even bigger things coming."

“Yeah, you know how Avengers: Endgame was the end of the entire Infinity Saga? This is like that, except there's a massive post-credits scene that sets up Phase Two of our run," Cates added.

Then, when asked if the duo’s outline for Eddie Brock’s next adventures stretched into 2020, Cates answered, “Yeah, and beyond!”

Absolute Carnage #1 by Donny Cates, Ryan Stegman, JP Mayer, Frank Martin and Clayton Cowles is now on sale from Marvel Comics.
