Abrams and Robinson Aim To Steal A Heist Movie

JJ Abrams is teaming up with the man who gave Kevin Costner his career to steal $100 million's worth of diamonds... and it's all thanks to Wired magazine.

Phil Alden Robinson, the writer/director behind Field of Dreams (and, more positively, Robert Redford hacker comedy Sneakers), has signed on to script a movie based on a Wired article called "The Untold Story of the World’s Biggest Diamond Heist," produced by Abrams' Bad Robot production company. The article told the true story of how a gang of thieves managed to break into the Antwerp Diamond Center in Belgium, despite 10 layers of security, and get away with diamonds worth somewhere in the region of $100 million, as explained by the now-incarcerated ringleader of the group.

Neither Robinson nor Abrams are expected to direct the still-untitled project.
