ABC’s Poe Finds First Cast Member

One of the more intriguing projects of pilot season, ABC’s crime procedural Poe, has landed its first cast member.

Deadline reports that Leslie Odom Jr., who had recurring roles on CSI: Miami and Vanished, will play Julian “Jupiter” Noble, a doctor at a free clinic who helps famed author and poet Edgar Allan Poe as he solves crimes in 1840s Boston.

That’s right: In case you missed it when the pilot was picked up last month, the script, from Chris Hollier (Alias, Kyle XY), reimagines Poe as the world’s first detective, who uses “unconventional methods to investigate dark mysteries.” The lead role has yet to be cast.
