ABC has given a put-pilot order to a new anthology series based on the 1984 Tom Hanks film Bachelor Party, Variety reports.

The half-hour comedy will use three couples in different stages of their relationships -- one getting married, another divorced and one starting to date -- to dissect the institution of marriage. Of course, there will also be plenty of bachelor parties involved.

The adaptation was co-created by New Girl writers J.J. Philbin and Josh Malmuth, who will executive produce. New Girl star Jake Johnson is also attached as an EP, alongside Renate Radford, Jason Winer and Max Winkler. The latter two are also expected to alternate turns in the director's chair, following a pilot helmed by Winer.

Thanks to the put-pilot order, the Bachelor Party pilot is guaranteed to air -- unless ABC is cool with paying the new show's production companies (Small Dog Picture Co. and the Walcott Company in association with 20th Century Fox Television) a hefty chunk of change.
