Dinosaurs first premiered on ABC in April of 1991. The series followed the Sinclairs, a family of anthropomorphic dinosaurs. Created by Michael Jacobs and Bob Young, the show was produced by Jacobs' company alongside Jim Henson Television, and featured characters designed by Henson team member Kirk Thatcher.

The series ran for a total of 65 episodes across four seasons, concluding its run in October of 1994. In addition to its character designs, the show is known for tackling a wide range of social issues, as well as for its notoriously dark ending, in which the eponymous dinosaurs are faced with their extinction as a result of the ensuing ice age.
