Here is the latest in our year-long look at one cool comic (whether it be a self-contained work, an ongoing comic or a run on a long-running title that featured multiple creative teams on it over the years) a day (in no particular order whatsoever)! Here's the archive of the comics posted so far!

Today we take a look at the first DC Comics Halloween Special (they've done four now, counting 2010), titled the Infinite Halloween Special #1!

Enjoy!

The framing sequence for the comic was spot on. Here it is...

Isn't that a really clever way to frame the stories? What's especially neat about is that there's a twist in the framing sequence as WELL that you don't discover until the end of the comic. Clever stuff from writers Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning (with art by Trevor Hairsine and Kevin Conrad).

Paul Dini whipped up a Zatanna story that allowed Dustin Nguyen to really cut loose...

Jon Bogdanove does a story with his teenage son starring Batzarro that's a real blast.

Marc Bernardin and Eric Freeman do a cute Lobo story (with art by Eric Battle and Sandra Hope) where the villain Phobia discovers that it is pretty hard to come up with something that scares Lobo.

Steve Niles and Dean Ormston do an interesting Superman vs. Zombies tale...

Stephen Seagle and John Paul Leon do a spooky Smallville story...

The class of the collection, however, has got to be this Mark Waid/Ryan Sook collaboration (especially as I was always kinda irked that no writer ever did anything with the fact that Wally's grandfather was not only alive, but living right nearby Wally!!!)...

The story takes a very cool turn after that - Waid does a remarkable job in just a few pages (and do I really need to tell you how amazing Sook is?).

So this was a great introduction to a very cool annual practice by DC!
