Here is the latest in our year-long look at one cool comic (whether it be a self-contained work, an ongoing comic or a run on a long-running title that featured multiple creative teams on it over the years) a day (in no particular order whatsoever)! Here's the archive of the moments posted so far!

Today we look at Gary Spencer Millidge's Strangehaven...

.

Enjoy!

Strangehaven is Gary Spencer Millidge's long-running (and long-awaited, in terms of the next issue) comic book about the bizarre town by the same name. A common description of the book is quite apt, I think, which is that it is "Twin Peaks meets The Prisoner."

While the town is probably the "real" star, the book is nominally about a man named Alex who crashes in Strangehaven while on vacation and then finds himself stuck in the town, whether he wants to or not. Luckily, he seems to fit in there nicely.

Here's his intro to the town (and our intro to some spooky, shady characters)...

The book is filled to the brim, though, with interesting characters. Here's a scene from one of the last issues (you can see how Millidge's art skills developed) giving us a nice mix between looking at the vast, odd cast and also showing some of the trademark weirdness of Strangehaven (NOTE: This spoils a plot point in the series in case you don't want to read ahead - but it's a plot point like "The Comedian is killed in Watchmen," so it being spoiled is not a MAJOR deal, I suppose)...

The entire series is collected into three trade paperbacks.

Millidge recently did a book about how to design comic books, so maybe he'll eventually also return to Strangehaven!
