Here is the latest cool comic book moment in our year-long look at one cool comic book moment a day (in no particular order whatsoever)! Here's the archive of the moments posted so far!

Today we continue "Catch Phrase" week! Each day we'll examine the first time that various comic book characters used their most famous catch phrase!

Today we look at the most notable catch phrase of Eric Powell's The Goon!

Enjoy!

The Goon, written and drawn by Eric Powell, is about The Goon, a brawler who claims to be the head enforcer for the mobster Labrazio (the truth is another matter) and his sidekick, Franky, who get caught up in all sorts of misadventures, mostly of the paranormal nature.

The first Goon issues came out at Avatar Press in the late 90s, but Powell was unhappy with the situation there and stopped the book three issues in. After self-publishing for a short period (once his Avatar contract expired), Dark Horse picked the series up and continues publishing it today, to great acclaim.

In any event, in the third issue of the original series, The Goon has been captured by zombies, so Franky goes to their regular hang out to gain some allies to free him.

A vampire who had crossed their paths before offered to help them...

Franky is surprised...

And then delivers his catch phrase/signature fighting move, which has become most likely the most famous catch phrase from The Goon...

"Knife to the Eye!"

Man, that rules.
