Here is the latest cool comic book moment in our year-long look at one cool comic book moment a day (in no particular order whatsoever)! Here's the archive of the moments posted so far!

Today we look at a neat Guy Gardner moment from Gerard Jones and Joe Staton.

Enjoy!

I was not a big fan of Gerard Jones and Joe Staton's Guy Gardner ongoing series, as it was one of the rare ongoing series where it seemed like the main character was not particularly LIKED by the guy writing the book (again, let me stress "seemed" - Jones might very well have been a big fan of Guy - it just did not come across that way).

However, I thought that Jones handled Guy nicely in the Guy Gardner: Reborn mini-series that led into the Guy ongoing.

The basic point of the series was finding out a way for Guy to get powers separate from being a member of the Green Lantern Corps, and what Jones settled on was Guy trying to get Sinestro's power ring, which was buried with Sinestro's body on Oa.

To get there, Guy had to make deals with various unsavory types (like Lobo and the Qwardians), with the basic strategy of "once I get the ring, I can just take care of all of them."

So Guy gets to the ring, however, Sinestro's spirit had possessed John Stewart for a little while now, and when John goes to confront Guy about taking the yellow power ring, Sinestro steps in, leading to a very nice confrontation between Guy and the spirit of Sinestro.

"The" moment for me was definitely the ending - the whole "Yeah, yeah, you are so much better than me, but I got your ring" line really captured the tenacity and almost likable impudence of Guy Gardner.
