The New Zealand production of The Hobbit has certainly hit a few snags — the pervasive financial woes of MGM and the departure of director Guillermo Del Toro being the most prominent — but some new set photographs indicate that the project is moving forward regardless.
Herr-der-ringe-film.de has scored some photos of The Shire set, currently in construction near the town of Matamata, New Zealand. Is this a definitive sign that all is well regarding the future of The Hobbit? I wouldn't go that far. But it is a sign that production seems to be going forward with or without a director. We'll just have to wait and see how far it actually gets.
In the mean time, at least we have some pretty pictures to gawk at!
