Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who's been tweeting regularly from the Hawaii set of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, today provided another look at Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Disney sequel. Sure, it's a rather generic silhouette, but at least it's something. Right? Eh, maybe it will pave the way for more, and more revealing, images.
Loosely based on Tim Powers’ 1988 novel On Stranger Tides, the film centers on the search for the Fountain of Youth. The fourth Pirates film stars Depp, Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa, Ian McShane as Blackbeard, Penelope Cruz as Blackbeard's daughter Angelica, Stephen Graham as Jack's sidekick Scram, Kevin R. McNally as Jack's longtime comrade Joshamee Gibbs, Sam Claflin as a stalwart missionary and Astrid Berges-Frisbey as a mysterious mermaid. Keith Richards is rumored to be reprising his role as Jack’s father, Captain Teague.
Directed by Rob Marshall from a script by Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott, On Stranger Tides begins shooting last month. The film opens on May 20, 2011.
