Despite his character dying in A Quiet Place, writer/director John Krasinski will appear in the sequel to the popular 2018 sci-fi horror movie.

"That’s what ego is," Krasinski joked on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "It was one those things where I wasn’t really going to do a second one because the first one was such a personal experience -- it was my love letter to my kids, which looks insane now that you’re watching that. But it was really important for me to continue the metaphor and we actually start dealing with how this all started."

Paramount Pictures recently released a Super Bowl TV spot for the sequel, showcasing an extended flashback sequence before jumping beyond the events that transpired in the first movie. The sequel will showcase how the monsters came to take over, as well as how Emily Blunt’s Evelyn Abbot attempts to protect her family against those same creatures.

Principal photography on A Quiet Place: Part II began during summer 2019 in upstate New York, with the core cast from the first movie reuniting alongside newcomers Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou.

Written and directed by John Krasinski, A Quiet Place Part II stars Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe and Djimon Hounsou. The film opens March 20.
