Joseph Quinn, who recently played Eddie Munson in Stranger Things Season 4, may not be done fighting monsters as the actor is in talks to star in A Quiet Place: Day One, the prequel spinoff to John Krasinski's expanding horror franchise.

According to Deadline, Quinn is in negotiations for a leading role in A Quiet Place: Day One opposite Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong'o. Quinn rose to prominence earlier this year with his breakout role as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things Season 4. His performance in the Netflix series made Munson a fan-favorite character.

Paramount Pictures announced it was developing a spinoff of the Quiet Place franchise in November 2020. Jeff Nichols was originally attached to write and direct the film based on an idea by A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II actor/writer/director John Krasinski. Nichols departed the project in October 2021 and was replaced with Pig helmsman Michael Sarnoski at the start of this year.

In November, Lupita Nyong'o joined the spinoff in a leading role. No details are available on Nyong'o's character nor Quinn's, but Day One is said to follow a new story and cast of characters in the Quiet Place universe. Though it has not been confirmed, John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are not expected to appear in the film.

Released in 2018, the original A Quiet Place was a critical and box office success, earning $341 million against a $17 million budget. A Quiet Place Part II was released in 2020 and was similarly well-received by critics and audiences. The sequel pulled in $297.4 million against a $55–61 million budget despite opening in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic. A Quiet Place Part III is also in development at Paramount with John Krasinski returning to produce. Though no writer or director is officially attached at this time, Deadline reports that Krasinski will return to the director's chair for A Quiet Place Part III, which is scheduled for a theatrical release sometime in 2025.

Paramount has been successful in the horror field as of late. The studio's most recent genre entry, Smile, went on to earn $210.2 million against a $17 million production spend (the same as that of the first A Quiet Place). The studio also recently hired Walter Hamada, the former president of DC Films at Warner Bros. Discovery, to shepherd its horror division. Hamada departed WBD in October following its restructuring of DC Films (now DC Studios), which is currently under the management of co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran. Hamada, whose previous horror credits include remakes of Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street, Lights Out and The Conjuring franchise, assumes his new role at Paramount in January 2023.

A Quiet Place: Day One is set to hit theaters on March 8, 2024.
