John Krasinski really stood out when he directed the two acclaimed psychological thrillers A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II. Both films instilled fear in audiences as they watched The Abbotts survive and navigate around a version of Earth populated with killer, audio-sensitive aliens.

The end of the sequel left the future of the Abbott family open to interpretation after the daughter, Regan, saved the day. Krasinski himself was very vague about the follow-up to A Quiet Place Part II stating it will be a "different" movie and the directorial and creative responsibilities will be handed over to Mud director Jeff Nichols. Just how different it will be remains to be seen. But the good news is that the possibilities are endless.

6 The Third Film Could Show Djimon Hounsou's Character's Backstory & How The Colony Got Started

Towards the end of the film, Emmett and Regan discover an island of survivors. They also discover that the aliens don't react well to water. This discovery is quite a game-changer for the franchise. The weakness to water for the aliens exposed a whole new host of storylines in how humans can survive in this world. But the most interesting story could cover the horrific anecdote that Djimon Hounsou's character, the colony leader, relayed to Emmett.

The colony leader explained how the government found out about the aliens' weakness to water and how chaos ensued among survivors when the National Guard tried to save them with only two boats. The story was chilling and vaguely reminiscent of Robert Shaw's story in Jaws. The discovery and the events leading up to that fateful rescue attempt could lead to very interesting storylines.

5 The Third Film Could Show How The Islanders Recover After Being Attacked

The island after it's been attacked

Audiences got a chance to breathe when Emmett and Regan found an island where survivors had formed a colony. That breath was quickly taken away after an alien was able to float on a boat and onto the island, causing a brutal rampage that the survivors did not see coming. Emmett and Regan ultimately defeated the monster by leading it to the radio station and killing it.

Djimon Hounsou's character was attacked by the alien and it's implied he was killed. The aftermath of the island attack would be a satisfying trajectory for the new film.

4 The Third Film Can Explore How Other Survivors Use Regan's Cochlear Implant

The sequel ends with Regan broadcasting her cochlear implant as a weapon to leave her alien attacker disoriented. Regan was able to broadcast the implant frequency from the radio station that played "Beyond the Sea" as a calling card to other survivors. The film insinuated that anyone who survived the original attack can use it as a weapon if they access the radio waves, just as Regan's brother, Marcus, had done.

This is a perfect opportunity to introduce new characters to the mix and see how they utilize this new weapon. The Abbotts may not be in the third movie, but this opens up the door to other possibilities and characters using the sound waves from the implant to fight off the malignant creatures.

3 The Third Film Could Be A Prequel About Emmett's life

Emmett from A Quiet Place

The best new addition to A Quiet Place II was Cillian Murphy's character, Emmett. Viewers got a peek into Emmett's previous life, as well as the Abbotts', at the beginning of the movie when the aliens first arrived during their town's little league baseball game.

Emmett steps into the hero role when he saves Regan (who always goes off by herself) but there are strong implications that he experienced devastating losses involving his family. A third movie detailing how Emmett arrived at the hideout he created before finding the Abbotts has so much potential for an emotionally moving story.

2 The Third Film Could Chronicle The Lives Of The Feral Attackers At The Docks

Regan and Emmett A Quiet Place 2

One of the most haunting scenes in A Quiet Place II did not come from the vicious aliens that instilled terror throughout the franchise. The scene that brought the most fear was when Regan and Emmett were attacked on the docks by what reviewers describe as "feral attackers." The reason this attack was all the more terrifying was that it didn't come from fantastical creatures but from assailants who could've been neighbors before the aliens came to Earth. The inclusion of these characters also provides a path for a fascinating look into how certain survivors formed these tribes.

The third movie can take place during any time period and can show how these tribes formed, present a backstory to new characters, and dive into internal and external conflicts that the people may have encountered. Besides the reveal of the island colony, the addition of the wild tribe of survivors was one of the most engrossing plot points that's ripe with exploration in the third film.

1 The Third Film Could Cover The Monsters Evolving With Enhanced Skills

Aliens In A Quiet Place 2

Certain commentators have critiqued that the one flaw about the aliens in the sequel is the lack of fresh changes or updates. While some were happy with the aliens as they were, others felt the lack of new additions left them to be a bit dull and formulaic. One amazing suggestion that had been made to enhance the storyline of the aliens would be to watch them evolve with skills that allow them to hunt, not just through hearing, but through other senses such as smell.

If the aliens learn how to develop the sense of smell in the third movie as a way to track down humans, this could be a captivating twist to the franchise. It would allow a new set of challenges and storylines to emerge in terms of how survivors cope with the dismal recondition. This would leave the audiences truly engaged in the third installment. Also, if smell is introduced as the only new sense, that could leave one question for the audiences to contend with: Will sight be next?
