All throughout May, I'll spotlight a different webcomic. Like with the month of independent comics and the month of LGBT comics, I figure I will let you webcomic creators out there suggest your comic for spotlight during this month. So if you want me to spotlight your comic, drop me a line at bcronin@comicbookresources.com!

Today we look at Danielle O'Brien and Bill Ellis' webcomic, All New Issues, about a close knit group of 20-somethings who all work in (or in one case, own) a comic book store. It is less about where they work and more about the interactions between the three main characters. O'Brien is the writer and Ellis is the artist.

O'Brien and Ellis introduce us to the cast of the comic quite quickly, with the first two strips introducing us to Jason...

and Todd...

with Robyn showing up in strip #4...

Other major characters are Todd's ex-girlfriend, Dee (a school teacher), and Todd's best friend, Gavin (a wrestler). Dee is interested in Gavin, but there is a major secret that she doesn't know about him (on top of it being weird for her to be getting involved with her ex-boyfriend's best friend).

O'Brien has a really strong handle on the characters and she has created some excellent character interactions. It has that naturalistic feel that you want from comics like this - if you develop the characters well enough, it will feel almost as if you could predict what each character will say before they say it.

Ellis' artwork, meanwhile, is excellent. He tells the story well and his character work is quite expressive (quite important for a strip so dependent on dialogue).

Here are a couple of random strips showing the interactions between the characters...

All New Issues is also part of the cross-over between Girls With Slingshots and Something Positive, as Robyn got one of the litter from the union between the cats from those two strips (Robyn is cousins with Hazel from Girls With Slingshots). What is amusing is that O'Brien and Ellis don't have a cat, so it is impressive how well they capture the antics of the cat (named Selina, of course) who has become a major part of the strip. Here are a couple of neat cat-centric strips...

All New Issues is almost at strip 100!! After #100, they will be increasing from a Tuesday/Thursday update schedule to a Monday/Wednesday/Friday update schedule!
